R-World to stay free till Sept

Our Bureau

Bangalore , July 7

R-WORLD, the mobile portal of Reliance Infocomm, which was to go paid from July 1, will now be available free of charge till September.

"This extension may be sufficient for new users to experience the benefits of R-World, though no decision has been taken so far whether it will go pay after September," Reliance Infocomm' President (Application and Solutions group) Mr Mahesh Prasad, told Business Line.

Mr Prasad said he did not expect customers to leave in case R-World goes pay because the value gained from this service outweighs the monetary considerations. "Customers are choosy what they want. If they don't find a value, they will not buy it," he said.

One of the main attractions of Reliance Infocomm's mobile phones, R-World has been a free service since its introduction over a year ago. It was to go pay much earlier but Reliance Infocomm kept extending the deadline to rope in more subscribers.
