Mr Peter Vanderfluit, Vice-President, Software Sales, Hewlett-Packard . -- G. R. N. Somashekar
Bangalore , July 7 HEWLETT-Packard has said it plans to increase its focus on Government and small and medium businesses (SMBs) in India over the next year for its management software product, OpenView. Mr Amit Chatterjee, Country Manager for HP India, told a press conference on Wednesday that the company had signed up 100 customers across the country over the last five years, of which 30 were added in the last one-year. "We are seeing great traction in the Indian market," Mr Chatterjee said, adding that the company expected to sustain the growth it achieved last year. A couple of new deals signed last year were worth over a million dollars, Mr Chatterjee said, adding that few more such deals were in the pipeline "We will now increasingly focus on the public sector and SMB segments because of their increased buying behaviour and technology spends in addition to our continued focus on the enterprise segment," he said. He said the firm would focus on adding tier II channel partners to increase footprint in the SMB segment. "For the current year, we expect to grow over and above the market growth rate," Mr Chatterjee added. HP counts Mahindra & Mahindra, Mastek, Wipro, HCL Comnet, HDFC, GAVS and ST Micro as among its recent customers.. Mr Peter Van Der Fluit, Vice-President of HP's global software sales, said that India has emerged as the fastest growing market for HP's management software.
