Farm credit Agri-Biz & Commodities - Farm credit Dena Bank's rural thrust Our Bureau
MUMBAI: In an endeavour to enhance credit to the farm sector, Dena Bank has identified ``100 thrust'' branches in the rural areas and plans to hire 100 agriculture officers shortly. In Gujarat, where Dena Bank heads the State-level banks' conference, the bank has asked the State Government to facilitate an environment for effective recoveries, said Dr A.K. Khandelwal, Chairman and Managing Director, speaking to press persons at the sidelines of the conference here. Eighty per cent of the bank's branches are in rural and semi-urban areas. Dr Khandelwal said the bank also plans to relocate agri-officers already present in the bank, but who have gone on to other positions, to these branches.
The bank's agri credit formed 18.5 per cent of total advances and the net bank credit stood at Rs 9,500 crore during the first quarter. of this fiscal.
