ACQUISITION of the right skills, adapting to the changing situation and reinventing oneself are essential to getting ahead in engineering, medical and allied technical professions.

This was the message drilled into the ears of the aspiring engineering and medical students who participated in the pre-counselling guidance sessions organised by The Hindu group here on Tuesday.

The counselling for the students who qualified in the EAMCET (engineering and medical common entrance test) would be held later this month.

To guide the students, The Hindu group had earlier organised similar sessions in Vijayawada and Hyderabad.

There was a good response to the event here, especially from aspiring engineering students. It was sponsored by the Sri Chaitanya Group of Educational Institutions.

Mr K. Babu Rao, the Director (technical), Navayuga Infotech, Hyderabad was the moderator.

He advised the students to choose the right discipline and strive to achieve excellence.

Mr P. Srinivasa Rao, Principal, Gayatri Engineering College, Mr K.P.R. Chowdary, Head of the Department of Pharmacy, Andhra University, and several other educationists offered advice to the students on course selection, prospects and opportunities.
