Canara Bank gesture

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The General Manager, Thiruvananthapuram Circle, Canara Bank, Mr Umesh Shenoy, handed over a cheque for Rs 6.04 lakh to the Shri Sathya Sai Orphanage Trust, Sasthamangalam, for purchase of an ambulance vehicle in a gesture initiated by the bank's Social Banking Cell.

Mr Justice K.P. Radhakrishna Menon, Chairman of the Shri Sathya Sai Trust and also Ombudsman for the Government of Kerala, received the cheque on behalf of the Trust at a function held at Vattiyoorkavu on Monday. In his acceptance speech, Mr Menon lauded Canara Bank's initiatives in social service.

Among those who attended the function were Mr K. Gopalakrishnan, Deputy General Manager, Mr Sreekanthan, Divisional Manager, and Mr Kishore Kumar, Senior Manager, Canara Bank, and Mr Anantha Kumar, Executive Director, Shri Sathya Sai Trust. In a separate function hosted by the Social Banking Cell, the general Manager handed over cloth materials and toiletries to inmates of the Mental Hospital at Peroorkada in the city.
