THE National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has formally launched the office of District Development Manager (DDM) in Kadapa district on Friday.
The Chief General Manager of Nabard, Regional Office, Hyderabad said that with Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh now has DDMs in 21 of the 23 districts.
The DDMs play a variety of roles in rural development. These include the core areas of credit planning, monitoring, coordination and development-related activities of rural financial institutions (RFIs), according to a Nabard press release here.
The RFIs, NGOs, VAs and other agencies working for agriculture and rural development in the district have found the DDMs as an important link to the governmental agencies. By opening the office, Nabard is hopeful of providing focussed attention to the district, the release said.
The DDM was inaugurated by the Kadapa MP, Mr Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy. The DDM hopes to catalyse the district administration and the banks to encourage sustainable and equitable agriculture and rural development.
