Power cut may continue for a few more days in AP

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , July 1

POWER cut being imposed in parts of the State may continue for a few more days, as there is a shortage of 400 MW during peak hours and about 300 MW during off-peak hours, necessitating load relief.

According to the Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (APTransco), the demand for electricity has gone up steeply due to the prevailing dry spell and commencement of agricultural operations. The peak demand during last week was 6,400 MW as against 5000 MW during the corresponding period last year.

In a press release, APTransco has said that there have also been outages of generating units last week resulting in a loss of power generation to an extent of 857 MW.
