Textile Machinery Marketing - Channels and Franchises Rapier Links to market Chinese looms in South India G. Gurumurthy
Coimbatore , July 1 RAPIER Links, the Kumarapalayam based company in Tamil Nadu, will be selling the low priced automatic rapier weaving machines produced by China in India. Essentially a dealer for the South Indian market, Rapier Links will offer the flexible rapier loom models from Texworld International, a 20-year old textile machinery manufacturing company from China. Texworld International's rapier loom range is available in diverse loom-width starting from 180 cm up to 360 cm. The Chinese textile machinery manufacturing company, besides the production of rapier looms also produces terry machines, accumulators and embroidery machines in addition to the spare parts for the rapier looms. According to Mr A.D. Ravishankar, Director, Rapier Links, the first batch of 12 rapier looms from the Texworld International have already been imported into the country and are in operation with a Komarapalayam-based weaving company. A demo of the looms in operation has been organised on Friday at Komarapalayam. Mr Ravishankar told Business Line that the investment on automatic rapier looms from Texworld International costing Rs 3.90 lakh for the base model (which includes the import duty plus the clearing and forwarding costs up to the door-steps of the buying company) will be eligible under the Government of India sponsored textile upgradation fund scheme and it would offer cost competitiveness vis-à-vis the used weaving machines being imported from Europe whose landed cost would be quite high compared to the Chinese new rapier looms. Though the speed of the machine at 230 rpm is considered low compared to the European models that runs at 350 rpm, the quality of the fabric woven from the machine on par with international weaving standards. Rapier Links, according to Mr Ravishankar, would also ensure uninterrupted supply of spares to the Texworld looms. Rapier Links will unveil the Chinese rapier loom models to the weaving community through a demo-cum-exhibition to be held on Friday at Komparapalayam in which, the Texworld International Managing Director, Mr Tony Wu, would also attend.
