MAJOR trading houses and star trading houses have pitched for policy-related support with the Union Commerce and Industry Minister, Mr Kamal Nath, by way of their wish-list in the run-up to the forthcoming Union Budget 2004-05 and the subsequent Export-Import (Exim) Policy.

Representatives of Hindustan Leaver Ltd (HLL), Pepsi, MMTC, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) and All India Rice Exporters' Association and food processing industries have met Mr Nath.

They flagged off various issues such as simplification of procedures, connectivity problems in special economic zones (SEZs), duty-free credit for the stakeholders and highlighted how the appreciating rupee had hit the country's competitiveness by eroding export margins, an official release issued by the Department of Commerce said today.
