Airlines Funds for Nagpur cargo hub airport project to `be made available' Lyla Bavadam
Mumbai , June 27 THE Chief Minister, Mr Sushilkumar Shinde, said about Rs 100 crore will be made available on a priority basis for project land acquisition to develop the proposed international airport at Nagpur Cargo Hub. Speaking in a meeting held in Mantralaya to review the development of the Cargo Hub works, the Chief Minister said that Rs 40 crore had already been paid to acquire the 2,331 hectares land required for the project. Further funds would soon be made available. Mr Shinde also said that a meeting of the Planning Commission would be held to solve any problems that might be a hurdle to the implementation of the project. The Nagpur Cargo Hub is not only an important infrastructure project from the point of national and international trade but is also a politically savvy project. The Vidarbha region has for long been economically neglected and political parties have, of late, being paying the price for this. The importance of this project was emphasised by the presence of the Minister for Energy, Mr Dilip Walse-Patil; the Minister for Finance, Mr Jayant Patil; the Minister of State for Higher Education, Mr Anees Ahmed; the Union Minister of State for Non-Convention Energy Sources, Mr Vilas Mutemwar. The Chief Secretary, Mr A.K. Mago; and the Nagpur Mayor, Mr Vikas Thakre, were the others who attended the meeting.
