Bank credit up Rs 2,529 crore

Mumbai , June 26

GROSS bank credit in the system increased by Rs 2,529 crore for the fortnight ended June 11. This includes food credit, which stood at Rs 43,161 crore, and non-food credit at Rs 8,24,073 crore.

Loans and advances provided by RBI to the State Governments increased by Rs 1,149 crore to Rs 4,256 crore for the week ended June 18.

Total accommodation provided by scheduled commercial banks to the commercial sector in the form of bank credit and investments in shares, debentures, bonds and commercial paper increased by Rs 22,012 crore.

The outstanding amount for the fortnight was Rs 9,10,786 crore.

Year-on-year money supply was at 15.3 per cent.
