Lockout at Aruna Jute Mill

Our Bureau

VIZIANAGARAM: The management of the Aruna Jute Mill here declared a lock-out on Wednesday evening, as the dispute between the management and workers could not be resolved.

The workers have been on strike since March 1 following the dismissal of two workers over a wage dispute. The workers have been demanding the reinstatement of the workers and settlement of the wage dispute. Several rounds of discussions, arranged by the Deputy Commissioner of Labour in Visakhapatnam, proved futile and the management took the decision on Wednesday evening.

The union condemned the move of the management and urged the State Government to resolve the dispute and take steps for the re-opening of the mill.
