Rubber Sales put pressure on sheet rubber Our Correspondent
Kottayam , June 24 SPOT rubber prices showed a mixed trend on Thursday. Selling from traders and growers put pressure on sheet rubber prices, which lost 50 paise to close at Rs 66 as against Rs 66.50 on Wednesday. Covering groups and purchase agents kept a low profile, but latex improved by 50 paise on extremely low availability. While the other grades remained steady, ungraded rubber weakened on improved offerings. The futures market gained considerably after a better TOCOM closing. The near-month July delivery was quoted at Rs 65.33 (Rs 64.83), the August delivery at Rs 61.20 (Rs 60.71), the September delivery at Rs 59 (Rs 58.38) and the October delivery at Rs 58.03 (Rs 57.51) per kg for RSS 4. Volumes were moderate. The spot market rates per kg on Thursday for RSS 4 were Rs 66 (Rs 66.50); RSS 5 Rs 62.50 (Rs 62.50); ungraded Rs 60 (Rs 60.50); ISNR 20 Rs 58 (Rs 58); and latex 60 per cent Rs 48.50 (Rs 48).
