Outlook Blue Star expects services business to boost turnover Our Bureau
Chennai , June 23 BLUE Star Ltd expects its services business to buoy turnover in the current year. It has introduced two lines of services - duct cleaning and conversion of CFC-based refrigerants to eco-friendly refrigerants. It has also implemented an ERP package for customer service. With the new lines of service and the ERP, Blue Star expects revenues from services to grow 35 per cent this year. Last year, services accounted for some 15 per cent of the total turnover of Rs 716 crore. The company expects a 15-20 per cent jump in the current year's turnover, Mr Satish Jamdar, Executive Director, told newspersons. Business is also expected to come from new product lines that the company is launching. One is remote controllable air-conditioning for telecom base stations. Mr Jamdar said that duct cleaning could become a good business. Over a period of time, ducts - which carry cool air - tend to become a "breeding area for pollutants". Using sophisticated, remote controlled equipment, these ducts could be cleaned regularly, to ensure that the air let out is pure. Blue Star is targeting offices, hospitals and cinema theatres for providing these services. Phasing out CFC-based refrigerants is a commitment that India made under the Montreal protocol. Beyond 2010, the use of CFCs (chloroflurocarbons), which deplete the ozone layer, will not be allowed.
