Chennai June 18 IT was a day of launches at the opening of the AV Max exhibition. The Indian audio video market, which is estimated to be in the region of Rs 100 crore, is expected to grow at a rate of 50 per cent in the next few years. New market entrants such as Boston Acoustics have also come out with special India pricing. Mr J.S Puri, Senior Vice-President of Sharda Motor Industries Ltd, distributors for Boston Acoustics in India, said that the special India price for the entry-level home theatre system is Rs 70,000. Mr Puri said that the home theatre segment was an emerging one and the Indian customers were keen on getting the same effect they would get in the theatre, at home. The number of people who were going in for the home theatre systems was increasing, he said. Boston has also launched car audio systems, which are priced at Rs 40,000. Another transnational that has entered the market is Rockford Corporation, which has launched a range of audio equipment, including car audio systems.
