New Projects Industry & Economy - Non-conventional Energy Kakinada to get bio-diesel plant Our Bureau
Hyderabad , June 17 THE Hyderabad-based Naturol Bioenergy Ltd (NBL) proposes to set up a bio-diesel plant at Kakinada in a joint venture with Energea GmbH of Austria and Fe Clean Energy of USA. The proposed plant with an installed capacity of 300 tonnes per day is estimated to cost Rs 135 crore. The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NBL, Mr Bhaskar Chalasani, said that the project was based on the model adopted by countries like Brazil. Energea, that brings the technology, would work on turnkey basis and also operate the plant for a period of two years. The company has urged the Government to allot 50 acres of land at a concessional price.According to Mr M.G. Gopal, Secretary, Department of Rain Shadow Area Development and Bio-diesel, the project aims to bring 2 lakh hectares of wastelands in Anantapur, Kurnool, Chittoor, Cuddapah, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda and Rangareddy districts in the State under energy crops, particularly that of Jatropa. The State Minister for Lift Irrigation, Mr M. Mareppa, said that the Government would extend all help for establishment of the plant. The Managing Director (Asia) of Fe Clean Energy, Mr Anand Prakash, said his company would be investing in three bio-energy projects in Asia. The project in India would be the first one. The other two would be in Thailand and Philippines. The Chairman of Fe Clean, Mr George Sorenson, said that the company was looking at setting up bio-diesel projects globally.
