Monsoon-induced loss in Ernakulam

KOCHI: Ernakulam district has suffered a loss of Rs 81.30 lakh in the monsoon related disasters during the last one month. According to official sources, four persons had died and over 180 houses had been destroyed in sea erosion and flooding.

The district administration has urged the Government to allocate Rs 80 lakh for initiating relief measures in the district. It had been informing the Government about the losses on a daily basis. So far, the administration had distributed 1.70 lakh of sand bags to places like Chellanam, Kannamali and Kumblangi.
