New Delhi , June 15

SINGAPORE announced a $50-million investment to set up an integrated IT platform that will enable better exchange of information among the different players in the logistics trade.

The proposed platform, for which tendering will start in the next couple of weeks, seeks to facilitate seamless exchange of information among shippers, freight forwarders, carriers and financial institutions apart from the Customs to facilitate the flow of goods in and out of Singapore, said the city-state's Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, Dr Lee Boon Yang

In his inaugural address at the Infocomm Media Business Exchange (IMBX) conference here on Tuesday, Dr Boon said, "Providing a single Web interface for all trade-related IT systems, this integrated platform will help logistics players cut down on multiple data entry steps."
