Agricultural Policy CM announces sops for AP farmers Our Bureau
Hyderabad , June 13 GIVING a boost to the morale of farmers in the State, the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has announced sops to the farming community in the drought-hit areas. In his mass contact programme named `Rajiv Palle Baata' launched here on Sunday, Dr Reddy announced that the Government would provide 90 per cent subsidy on drip irrigation, besides launching subsidised bio-diesel plantation scheme in the rain shadow districts of Mahaboobnagar, Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda districts. The Government would encourage kanuga and castor plantations in 30,000 acres in Ranga Reddy district, with each acre attracting a subsidy of Rs 3,000-Rs 4,000. Each acre was expected to yield profit in the range of Rs 10,000-Rs 12,000. Rajiv Palle Baata, launched at Chevella (Ranga Reddy), covered a stretch of 150 km. The programme was punctuated by 12 well-attended roadside meetings. Dr Reddy assured the agriculture labour that they would get employment for at least 150-180 days.
