Co-operatives South Canara Co-op bank plans `anywhere banking' Our Bureau
Mangalore , June 8 THE South Canara District Central Co-operative (SCDCC) Bank Ltd is planning to implement "anywhere banking" facility in its 49 branches in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. The bank has also set up an Rs 1-crore fund to computerise co-operative societies under its jurisdiction. Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, the President of the SCDCC Bank Ltd, Mr M.N. Rajendra Kumar, said that these facilities would help provide quick service to bank customers. Of the 49 branches, five branches have implemented "anywhere banking" facility. Mr Kumar claimed that no DCC bank in the country has taken steps to implement "anywhere banking" facility for its customers. The bank is planning to set up ATM counters at the taluk level to help farmers in rural areas. The bank has extended Rs 55.34 lakh for computerising 45 co-operative societies in its jurisdiction. During 2003-04, the bank registered a profit of Rs 4.19 crore compared to Rs 4.04 crore in the previous financial year. The bank, which collected Rs 383.36 crore deposit in the last fiscal, is planning to mobilise Rs 430 crore this year. It extended loans to the tune of Rs 247.69 crore in the last financial year and has set Rs 310 crore target for this year.
