Performance Tata Motors sales increase by 35.8 pc Our Bureau
Mumbai , June 7 TATA Motors Ltd reported a 35.8 per cent growth in total vehicle sales to 29,774 units in May 2004 as against 21,928 units the previous corresponding period. Domestic sales accounted for 28,123 units (20,670 units for the year ago period). In commercial vehicles, domestic sales rose by 47.5 per cent to 14,391 units (9754 units), including a 58.1 per cent increase in sale of medium and heavy commercial vehicles to 10,051 units and a 27.7 per cent gain in light commercial vehicle sales to 4340 units. Cumulative truck sales for FY05 was up 57.4 per cent at 26,432 units (16,791 units). The company's passenger vehicle business reported a 25.8 per cent rise in domestic sales to 13,732 units for the just ended month. Total sales for the fiscal so far touched 25,704 units, a gain of 36.4 per cent. In May, Indica sold 8,463 units with its total sales so far up 33 per cent at 15,710 units. Similarly, Indigo sold 3,024 units for the month and 5,747 units for the fiscal so far. Sumo and Safari reported sale of 2,245 units for the month and 4,247 units for the year. Tata Motors exported 1,651 vehicles in May as against 1,258 vehicles the previous corresponding period.
