Mumbai , June 5

S. KUMARS Nationwide Ltd's brand Reid & Taylor, which has also become a ready-to-wear brand, is expected to turn in sales of Rs 170 crore this year against Rs 160 crore posted for the year ended September 31, 2003.

According to the Managing Director, Mr Nitin Kasliwal, the company is likely to earn sales of about Rs 800 crore this year. Its total income last year was Rs 625.87 crore.

He said a combination of high-powered ad campaign for Reid & Taylor, which involves Bollywood star, Mr Amitabh Bachchan, and other strategies were aimed at increasing sales by 40 per cent this year. Mr Bachchan was roped in as Reid & Taylor's brand ambassador to create brand recall among Indian customers and create the perception that it was an affordable one domestically.

The company which opened its first exclusive Reid & Taylor outlet in Mumbai business quarter, Churchgate, recently, also plans to set up another three exclusive stores across the country. It is planning a greater retail thrust for Reid & Taylor brand because of its garment range, which includes readymade legends, a shirting range, ready-to wear suits, blazers, trousers and accessories such as ties, handkerchiefs, belts and cufflinks.

Mr Kasliwal said S. Kumars planned to set up another 200 stores, in a three-four year period, which will comprise company-owned and franchisee outlets.
