3-day cashew research meet

Mangalore , June 3

THE three-day meeting of scientists of All-India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on cashew will begin at the National Research Centre for Cashew (NRCC) in Puttur of Dakshina Kannada district on June 4.

An NRCC press release said here on Thursday that Dr S.N. Pandey, Assistant Director General (Horticulture and Crop Science), would deliver the inaugural address. Dr V. Rajagopal, Director of Central Plantation Crops Research Institute (CPCRI), Kasaragod, Kerala, will deliver the presidential address. Dr M.G. Bhat, Acting Director of NRCC, will present the project coordinator's report.

There will be technical sessions on crop improvement, crop management and crop protection and a special session on management of insect pests of cashew.

The release said that there would be interaction among the representatives of the cashew processing industries and research centres in the last technical session. Nearly 90 delegates are expected to participate in the three-day meeting.
