E-Governance Varsity in pact to develop e-applications Our Bureau
Hyderabad , May 26 THE University of Hyderabad and the Centre for Good Governance have signed a memorandum of understanding to use the tools and techniques of information technology to simplify cumbersome procedures in departments of the State Government. Pooling their resources and expertise, the duo expects to develop meaningful e-applications to improve the overall efficiency of operations in the Government set-up. While the university will train the employees of the Centre for Good Governance, the latter will provide the necessary data inputs, said Dr Y. Narasimhulu, Registrar of the university. The Registrar and the Executive Director of the centre, Mr P.K. Mohanty, signed the MoU recently. Under the MoU, both parties will also work in the areas of data mining and data warehousing to come up with e-Governance applications. Some of the expected outcomes of the collaboration include, online performance management systems, exchange of research findings, joint training and joint consulting programmes. The centre has already developed a performance tracking system to evaluate ministers and officers in the Government, which has been put to use as well. It has also evolved various performance indicators. Prof. A.K. Pujari from the university and Prof. Srinivasulu Reddy from the centre, which is located in the Dr Marri Chenna Reddy Human Resource Development Institute (Dr MCR HRDI), have been identified to represent their respective organisations in the implementation of the programme.
