`New Govt will provide impetus to growth'

Mumbai , May 25

THE American Chamber of Commerce in India (AMCHAM-India) has welcomed the new team of ministers at the Centre.

Mr Sunil Mehta, Country Head and Chief Executive AIG (India) and Chairman, AMCHAM-India said, "Mr Chidambaram, as Finance Minister, will take India's economic reforms to a new platform and will provide impetus to social and physical infrastructure and accelerate flow of FDI to the country to support growth. ``Mr Chidambaram is a visionary with strong economic and legal experience. His appointment as Finance Minster is a testimony to the UPA's commitment to strong economic growth.'' He added that AMCHAM members aspired to partner with the new Government in India's growth.

Mr Mehta expressed confidence that India's economic reforms would continue under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, and his newly constituted Cabinet.
