Orchid's diabetic drug clears Phase I trials in Europe

Chennai , May 20

ORCHID Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals today announced that Bexel Pharmaceutical's (its drug discovery associate) anti-diabetic molecule had cleared Phase I (b) of human trials in Europe.

The company's press release said it aims to out-license the molecule after it completes Phase 2a.

This phase would be finished by July 2004.

The molecule would also be showcased in a June 2004 meeting of the American Diabetes Association.
