General insurance officers' body gets recognition

Kochi , May 20

THE General Insurance Officers All India Association (GIOAIA), affiliated to INTUC, has received recognition, following the referendum held on March 22 last, in the public sector insurance companies, according to Mr P.P. Mohanan, State General Secretary of GIOAIA.

United India Insurance Officers Association, National Insurance Company Officers Association, New India Assurance Officers Association, Oriental Insurance Company Officers Association have also got the recognition, he said.

The criterion for recognition is 20 per cent representation of the total employees, he said.

In class II section in all the companies except New India Assurance Company, the All India General Insurance Field Workers Association was recognised.

In New India, Bharatiya Vima Karmachari Sena (BVKS) and National Federation of General Insurance Employees were recognised.

Where as in the class III and IV employees' organisations the General Insurance Employees All India Association continued to maintain its control, he said.

The recognition is valid for two years, he added.
