Maybach deliveries by September

DAIMLERCHRYSLER India is planning to commence deliveries of the Rs 5-crore luxury car Maybach by September.

According to Mr Suhas Kadlaskar, Director (corporate affairs and finance), Daimler Chrysler India, the company has already received about 10-15 serious enquiries for the Maybach and it hopes to sell at least 7-8 cars in 2004.

The car is being sent for homologation to the Automotive Research Association of India next week.

In addition, DaimlerChrysler is conducting a feasibility study to introduce the Jeep brand of vehicles and the Actros range of commercial vehicles in India. "A decision on both would be taken by about December 2004," Mr Kadlaskar said.

The company also said it hoped to wipe out its accumulated loss of Rs 280 crore in the next 3-5 years.
