Cement despatches higher in April

THE four cement majors have reported increase in despatches ranging between 14 per cent and 22 per cent, year-on-year, for April.

Associated Cement Companies reported a 14.1 per cent increase in despatches for the month, which were at 13.85 lakh tonnes.

At Larsen & Toubro, domestic despatches of cement and clinker increased 22.4 per cent, to 13.7 lakh tonnes in April this year, from its shipments of 11.2 lakh tonnes during April of the previous year.

Gujarat Ambuja reported an 18 per cent increase in despatches at 13 lakh tonnes for April, 2004, while Grasim Industries reported a 20.5 per cent increase in dispatches, at 11.11 lakh tonnes.
