New Delhi , May 3

THE Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA), headquartered in Sydney, is organising a two-day symposium on `Low-cost airline: Indian subcontinent and Gulf region' here from July 5.

In a statement, CAPA has said that senior executives from airlines, airports, industry suppliers and investors were scheduled to attend the symposium, which will focus on the rapidly expanding low-cost airline revolution in Asia and the Gulf region.

The statement said the symposium was expected to be the biggest of the three symposia staged by the consultancy and publications group this year. More than 450 delegates attended the first two symposia, which were held in Singapore and Macau in February and April, respectively.

The programme for the Delhi symposium will include presentations on the potential and the unique characteristics of low-cost airlines in the Indian subcontinent and the Gulf, the potential barriers operators may face, the likely competitive responses from full service carriers and the implications of low-cost carrier development for suppliers, governments and tourism organisations. ``We are currently finalising a very interesting programme of speakers, including executives from low-cost carriers in several regions, including India and Europe, several full service carriers, industry suppliers, financiers, Government and tourism,'' said the CAPA Managing Director Mr Peter Harbison.
