GIVING relief to the people tormented by the scorching summer, the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Ltd (APTDC) is organising a five-day `Summer Festival 2004', beginning April 30, at Durgam Cheruvu near here.

``The summer extravaganza will have celebrity shows, fashion shows, cultural programmes and fireworks,'' Mr T.V.N. Rao, Executive Director of APTDC, said.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday evening, he said popular entertainment groups like Asma, Gaysil Noroha (May 1), Goan Carnival, Aqua Flow, Bombay Vikings and Euphoria Band would be major attractions during the programmes to be conducted in the evenings.

He said Airtel, Sand Piper, State Bank of Hyderabad and Pepsi would be sponsoring the event.

``Besides cultural and pop shows, the fete will also have magic shows and mimicry performances,'' Mr Rao said.

Leading models from Pune, Mumbai and Bangalore were expected to take part in fashion shows.

``Tickets are priced at Rs 100 per adult and Rs 70 per child. Tickets will be on sale from Wednesday,'' he said.
