KA Latex to market Revertex products

THE Kerala-based Kurian Abraham Pvt Ltd (KA Latex) and Revertex Malaysia Sdn Bhd has signed a joint venture to manufacture and market the Revertex range of pre-vulcanised latex products in India and the SAARC region.
The joint venture known by the name Revertex KA Latex India Pvt Ltd will offer a range of pre-vulcanised latex products used in the manufacture of catheters, condoms, gloves, foam, flowers, toys, sports goods, footwear etc from its Indian facility by June 2004.
The joint venture agreement was signed between Mr David Lowe, Chief Executive Officer, Revertex Malaysia, and Mr A. Kurian, Managing Director, KA Latex, here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Lowe said one of the objectives of the Indian venture was to enable the latex goods industry to attain global standards and thereby allow greater penetration in the international latex products trade, now valued at over Rs 20,000 crore. Of this, Malaysia alone accounts over Rs 6,000 crore.
Revertex, established in 1925, has been in operation for over 75 years and has a worldwide presence and brand image.
TheIndian facility will be its fourth plant after Malaysia and Thailand.
The company manufactures and markets over 160 speciality grades of pre-vulcanised, post-vulcanised products and evaporated latex compounds, he said.
According to Mr Kurian, KA Latex with a 20 per cent market share in the latex business supplies 60 per cent centrifuged latex to product manufacturers in India.
Exports are also carried out to Sri Lanka, Europe, West Asia and South Africa.
The company established in 1995 is the leading manufacturer of 60 per cent centrifuged latex with three manufacturing operations located in Taml Nadu and Kerala.
A new modern unit was commissioned in December 2003 in central Kerala using the latest Alfa Laval 610 model centrifuging machines, he said.
