IMFA Group's ferro chrome production higher

THE IMFA Group, the country's largest producer of ferro alloys, produced a record 102,539 tonnes of ferro chrome in 2003-04. This was more than the 100,368 tonnes of ferro chrome produced by the group in 2002-03.

Of the total amount of ferro chrome produced in 2003-04, group company Indian Charge Chrome Ltd (ICCL) accounted for a production of 74,240 tonnes, representing a capacity utilisation of 118 per cent at its production facility at Choudwar near Cuttack, according to a press release issued by the company.

The release states that production of ferro silicon in 2003-04 at 35,965 tonnes was marginally lower than production at 36,584 tonnes the previous year. Generation of electricity at 808 million units during the year under review was down from 842 million units in 2002-03. ICCL's ferro chrome exports in 2003-04 stood at 56,814 tonnes, an increase of 23 per cent over exports the previous year.
