Mindspace keen on talent search in non-metros

Our Bureau

Bangalore , April 24

THE Chennai-based Mindspace Consulting Services is gung-ho about the talent available in small towns and is working toward making this talent pool industry savvy. "Jobs are aplenty but the companies are conservative. They do not want to go to smaller towns for their talent search," according to Mr Radesh Rangarajan, Founder CEO, Mindspace.

Mindspace believes that the non-metro towns comprise a huge talent house that can service industries such as telecom, insurance, BPO and FMCG companies. "It is our mission to package and place this talent into India Inc.," according to Mr Rangarajan. In keeping with this aim, the company has developed industry relevant programmes such as Career Counselling Program (CCP), Personality Enhancement Program (PEP), Call Centre Training (CCT) and Business English course.

The CCP and PEP programmes sharpen soft skills such as presentation skills, communication skills, handling group discussions, interviews, etc.

"There's a big soft skills gap between what these students have and what the corporates require," said Mr Rangarajan.

Mindspace also provides recruitment services, mostly at the entry level. "We give end-to-end solutions in this area," he said.

At present, Mindscape has centres in Mangalore, Suratkal, Udupi and Bhopal. The company has on-going programmes with five colleges, conducted workshops for over 9,000 students, and has ongoing programmes for about 2,000 students every month. The fee varies between Rs 2,000 and Rs 3,000 per student.

Mr Rangarajan said that for corporates, a tie-up with Mindspace will enable them to pick talent from fresh graduates, outsource their recruitment process and have a joint brand building exercise in the colleges.

The colleges, on the other hand, benefit through the EQ and IQ evaluation, training programmes for the students and the placement assistance.
