Chennai April 22 COCA-Cola will launch its new variant, Vanilla Coke, in Chennai and six other cities in Tamil Nadu on Friday. The company has signed up Hindi film actor Vivek Oberoi as the brand ambassador for the new product. The campaign with its retro look will be targeted at the urban youth. Mr Sunil Gupta, Vice-President, Coca-Cola India, said that 100 grocery stores in Chennai have been selected for the merchandising and another 100 for sampling. The promotions will be in colleges, shopping malls and at vanilla night parties. The company will also launch Georgia, its ready-to-drink tea and coffee brand, next month, he said. While Coca-Cola India will not make any additional investment in India this year, the cola major's franchisees will invest almost $70 million (about Rs 300 crore) into the front- and back-end operations, Mr Gupta said. Mr Gupta said the 27 plants where the company's products are being bottled will shortly be getting an ISO certification.
