Software PI Corp, Aditi Tech to develop next gen Linux product Our Bureau
Bangalore , April 21 PI Corporation, a start-up company aiming at developing next generation software targeted at the Linux environment, on Wednesday announced its partnership with the Bangalore-based Aditi Technologies for this venture. The new product, expected to be ready for shipment by next year, will provide a system that will simplify the exercise of storing, retrieving and viewing information on personal computers and other devices. Announcing the proposal, Mr Paul Maritz , the main promoter PI said the software would work on various platform in free (open source) and licensed forms and would meet the needs of mainstream personal information users and enterprise as well. It will be in a sense a synthesised version of the Web browsing, e-mail access and the `fancy' tools used for viewing office document. Mr Maritz, said Aditi Technologies, a company with a suite of products for Microsoft and many clients, will help PI in building the core team that will be responsible for the design and development centre in India. Aditi will also extend all infrastructure support to PI Corporation of India. Declining to divulge the exact amount to be invested on the new venture, Mr Maritz said, "A significant amount will be deployed by me and Warburg Pincus, leading private equity investor." Earlier, Mr Pradeep Singh, Chairman and CEO, Aditi Technologies, said the computer industry was witnessing three dramatic trends; speed of inexpensive broad band connectivity, continued leaps in computing hardware capacity and the growth of mature, inexpensive software environments.
