MUMBAI: Siemens Medical Solutions has chosen Wind River Systems' VxWorks Developer Tool Kit (VDT) as the foundation for its latest imaging system, MAGNETOM Avanto.

According to an official statement, Wind River's VDT technology helped Siemens Medical improve development costs, debugging issues, application software testing, product testing and integration. Wind River is engaged in device software optimisation (DSO).

Siemens purchased Wind River's technology as part of its subscription-based enterprise-licensing model. As part of this model, Siemens will receive yearly updates to Wind River's technology.
