K.B.S Chopra is new CGA

MR K.B.S. Chopra, a 1968 batch Indian Civil Accounts Service Officer, has been appointed as Controller General of Accounts (CGA) in the Ministry of Finance.

Prior to his appointment as CGA, Mr Chopra was posted as Additional Controller General of Accounts in the Ministry of Finance.

The Controller General of Accounts is entrusted with the task of laying down general principles of government accounting relating to the Union and State Governments.

The CGA also frames rules relating to all matters connected with the form of accounts and procedures for accounting of receipts and payments. An official release said that the monthly accounts prepared by the CGA provide timely information to facilitate management of government finances.
