Education Corporate - Human Resources IIT Kharagpur offers management course for working execs Our Bureau
Kolkata , April 13 THE Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT-KGP) has announced the launch of a two-year, part-time programme in business management for working executives. The programme, which is the first of its kind in the IIT system, would be on offer in IIT-KGP's campuses in Kharagpur, Kolkata and Bhubaneswar. Stating this today during an interface with newspersons, Prof Kalyan Chakravarti, Dean of the Vinod Gupta School of Management, IIT-KGP, said each of the three campuses would enrol 25 students, who would be chosen after an entrance test. In order to be eligible for enrolment, students should have secured a minimum of 60 per cent marks in B.E., B.Tech, M.Com, M.Sc, 3-year MCA or its equivalent examination. Prof Chakravarti said the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management Programme has been designed for working executives who are unable to pursue full-time study but at the same time need to hone their managerial skills for future career growth. The programme, which will start from first week of July, will consist of four semesters. The mode of instruction adopted is stated to be "contact-cum-distance mode of instruction and learning". The course fee has been pegged at Rs 1.8 lakh, or Rs 45,000 per semester, according to Prof Chakravarti.
