3D film in IMAX format

HYDERABAD: Prasads IMAX Theatre would be showing `Into The Deep,' the first 3D film in the IMAX format, beginning on April 14. "The film revolves around the Kelp Forests, off California, considered to be the lifeline for a variety of sea creatures," Mr Ralph Sunil, Head (Operations) of Prasads IMAX, said here in a statement.

"The IMAX 3D technology is far superior than the conventional 3D format which combines left and right-eye images onto a single strip of film, compromising on sharpness and colour, Mr Sunil said.

The new technology eliminated this lacuna and enhanced the images by using two separate strips of film for both image capture and projection.

"The special 3D glasses channelise right-eye image to the right eye and left-eye image to the left eye. Your brain fuses the two images together to create a three-dimensional image. As a result, the screen disappears virtually and images seem to float around the theatre," he said.
