Software Agri-Biz & Commodities - Co-operatives CoOptions eyes overseas markets V. Rishi Kumar
Hyderabad , April 4 COOPTIONS Technologies Ltd, a technology solutions provider addressing rural agricultural cooperatives and micro credit institutions, is in the process of expanding projects in Mauritius, South Africa, Malaysia and Vietnam with local partners. The company is eyeing fresh funding that would help ramp up operations in new markets. The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CoOptions, Mr Subrahmanyam Yadavalli, told Business Line that the company was focussed on helping agricultural and other cooperatives by improving their efficiency through empowering people to use smart cards and interacting with communities for their requirements. Founded with support from Nadatur Holdings &Investments of Mr N.S. Raghavan, co-founder and Joint Managing Director of Infosys, CoOptions was formed with a view to developing products that address the requirements of rural India and help bridge the digital divide. "It so transpired that the majority of the Commonwealth countries have similar requirements in rural areas in their backyard. With slight customisation with local partners, we are able to offer solutions for these countries," he explained. "In about five years and seed funding and later round of funding, we have emerged as a product company. Microsoft Corporation has chosen and awarded the company framework as one of the best to be developed on the .Net platform," Mr Subrahmanyam said. "Unlike most technology companies, we are not addressing the US and Europe; we are primarily focussed on the domestic market and have developed in 11 languages." "Of late, micro credit and micro finance institutions are training attention on bringing in efficiencies in both disbursement and collection of money. Institutions can manage large data and help local populace with our solutions. This is reflected from what we have managed to do with Sisu Spurthi project, where self-help groups use IT efficiently," he said.
