Tata Steel raises beneficiation capacity

Our Bureau

Mumbai , March 18

TATA Steel has raised its beneficiation capacity from its 1990 nameplate capacity of 1.08 lakh tonnes per annum to 4 lakh tonnes as a measure of mineral conservation.

It plans to further increase this capacity to 7 lakh tonnes at an additional investment of Rs 37 crore.

This has been achieved through a number of measures such as three shift operation as against nameplate capacity based on single shift platform; enhanced plant availability due to introduction of modern maintenance practices; capital investment by way of installation of additional beneficiation circuits like hydro-cyclone and spirals, feed circuit modernisation and addition of other balancing equipments and development of bedding and blending yard for ensuring availability of desired feed material round-the-clock for all seasons has also enabled the plant to increase the operating hours substantially. The new facilities are expected to be commissioned by the end of the year.
