Telecommunications Marketing - Strategy Variety - Sports Play Indo-Pak series on your mobile Neha Kaushik
New Delhi , March 14 THOUGH a relatively late entrant in the GSM mobile market, LG Electronics is aggressively looking to garner a share of the market by focusing on newer areas such as gaming. "People have been downloading ring tones and pictures. Gaming on cellphones, however, has not caught on yet, and we would like to grow this arena. To start with, keeping in view the current Indo-Pak series, we have launched a cricket game for LG mobile users today whereby users can play a virtual cricket game between India and Pakistan, complete with choice of actual venues in Pakistan and so on," Mr Praveen Valecha, Product Group Head (Mobile Phones), LG Electronics, said. The company intends to subsequently roll out more gaming options for mobile owners. LG Electronics is also increasing the ad spend behind its mobile phones and has set out a sales target of 5,00,000 units for the current year. Additionally, LG is in the process of setting up exclusive counters for its phones in India and plans to set up 100 such counters in the next two months. The company is also planning to launch a new economy range phone priced at Rs 6,000 soon.
