CNBC plans two new evening shows

Our Bureau

Mumbai , March 9

IN a bid to spruce up the evening band, CNBC-TV18 is introducing two new shows — Tonight at 10 and Encounter.

Business@10 is being replaced by Tonight at 10, a current affairs show featuring Karan Thapar from Monday to Thursday, while feature journalist and political commentator M.J. Akbar will host Encounter on Fridays.

"There will also be more international news from across the globe and revamped markets wrap-up coverage in the evening band. The evening band on the channel, therefore, will now stretch from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.," CNBC said in a news release.

Tonight at 10 is a news reaction show. "Viewers will witness Mr Thapar in in-depth discussions with the guests of the day on the latest business, political, economic and current affairs issues in the country. They will also be able to call in and post their opinions and queries," the release said.

Encounter will see M.J. Akbar interview personalities.
