The Hindu Business Line : Tyco Elec to make refractive plate switch at Bangalore

TYCO Electronics, a business segment of Tyco International Ltd, and a leader in electrical and electronic components, on Monday announced that it will start manufacturing high-end MIL (military) certified product called the refractive plate switch at its facility in Bangalore.

This family of high quality MIL-certified products will be used by the Aerospace, Defence and military organisations in India.

The refractive plate switch is a multimode optical switch that is capable of withstanding up to a 200 G shock with a duration of 8 ms without interruption of the signal path. This product allows the user to bring signal path integrity to the fast ethernet environments, as well as the older installed FDDI ring networks by maintaining low loss and resistance to extreme environmental and shock situations.

This is a phased programme, which begins with Tyco Electronics plans of manufacturing and marketing rugged optical bypass switches from the Indian facility.

In the second phase of the program, Tyco Electronics plans to add more product lines. This would help Tyco Electronics to position itself as a vendor of cost-effective products of international standards.

These products are being manufactured under stringent quality controls, by technically trained manpower and under the technical support of Tyco Electronics, US, adhering to international standards.
