Tea Mixed trend at Kochi tea sale Our Bureau
Kochi , March 7 A MIXED trend persisted for almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction. Though the dust sale witnessed a good general demand, it was comparatively low for leaf varieties. Of the quantity of 8,13,000 kg on offer in the dust category, CTC market irregularly dearer by Rs 1-3 and sometimes more. Orthodox dusts barely steady and tended to ease. The best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 52 and Rs 70, medium CTC realised Rs 45-50 and poorer type were quoted Rs 35-40. Highgrown BOPD fetched prices between Rs 52 and Rs 117. However, the leaf sale witnessed only a fair general demand and the quantity on offer was 2,44,000 kg. Orthodox well made teas fully firm to dearer. Others tended to ease. CTCs fully firm to dearer. Exporters to CIS operated in less strength. Secondaries and low-priced orthodox witnessed good demand. The best Nilgiri varieties commanded prices between Rs 43 and Rs 68, medium orthodox Rs 35 and Rs 50. The best CTC leaf fetched prices between Rs 53 and Rs 60, while medium CTC leaf realised Rs 36-45. In the dust category, Kodanaad CL-BOPD fetched the best prices of Rs 117 followed by Pasuparai FD by Rs 116. In the leaf varieties, both Glendale OP and Tigerhill FOP-CL realised the best prices of Rs 206 each followed by Craigmore BOP-CL by Rs 170.
