Applications invited from SSls for Visvesvaraya award

THE Madurai District Tiny And Small Scale Industries Association (Maditssia) has invited applications from the small-scale industrialists for the 12th Visvesvaraya Award, for the best small-scale industry functioning in the southern districts.
In a release to the press, the association has said that the first prize awarded will be worth Rs 10, 000 and the second and third prizes worth Rs 5, 000 each. Any small-scale industry functioning in the districts of Madurai, Dindigul, Theni, Sivaganga, Ramnad, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari are eligible to apply.
The award will be decided on the basis of nine criteria, namely, productivity, innovation, employment generation, management skills, profit generated, employees' welfare, quality, foreign exchange earned/import substitute and general. Applications are to reach the association on or before March 15.
