Maharashtra hikes sugar export subsidy

Our Bureau

Mumbai , Feb. 25

THE Maharashtra Government has decided to give a subsidy of Rs 250 per quintal for exports to the State sugar co-operative mills for the current season (2003-04), from November 1, 2003, official sources said.

This will be given in addition to the Centre's transport subsidy of Rs 120 per quintal.

This decision was taken to give incentive for promotion of sugar export by State co-operative mills. Last year, the State Government gave subsidy of Rs 100 per quintal.
