Tourism PATA awards for Kerala tourism Our Bureau
Thiruvananthapuram , Feb. 23 THE Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has announced the winners of its 2004 `PATA Gold Awards'. While India Tourism has won two gold awards and one `honourable mention', the Kerala Tourism has won three gold awards, says an official communiqué. The awards will be distributed during the PATA's annual conference to be held in South Korea in April. The Department of Tourism, Government of India, has won gold awards for its `Incredible India' campaign in the marketing awards category, and for its `Incredible India' spirituality campaign in the travel advertisements print media category, says the press release. Besides, India Tourism has also won a `honourable mention' for its `Incredible India' e-newsletter in the e-newsletter awards category. The Thenmala Ecotourism Project in Kerala's Kollam district has won a gold for Kerala Tourism in the environmental/ecotourism category, while the East Fort Conservation Project in Thiruvananthapuram has won a gold award in the heritage and culture category. Kerala Tourism has also won a PATA Gold Award in the CD-ROM category for its CD titled `Ayurveda: The mantra of Niramaya'. Meanwhile, the tourism industry in India recorded a 23 per cent growth in foreign exchange earnings in 2003, says a release from the Department of Tourism, Government of India. International tourist arrivals in 2003 grew by 16 per cent, the release adds.
