Bangalore , Feb 20

ENSTAGE, a US-based company, announced its plans to set up a BPO unit in the country. It also launched Accosa, an e-payment solution for banks, with HDFC Bank as its first customer.

The BPO unit is targeted at Indian banks and institutions to enable them to deploy Accosa, said Mr Govind Setlur, CEO.

Accosa positions banks as the trusted payment service providers in the emerging payment markets, Mr Setlur said, referring to the worldwide growth of Internet and mobile commerce. Card networks such as Visa have the best global infrastructure to process payments and Accosa leverages these networks to provide flexible and secure online payments he said. ``In an emerging market such as India, Accosa payment solutions will be suited for banks.''

Accosa includes card solution for banks such as electronic cards and 3-D secure, the visa security service for use of cards online. EnStage recently completed security requirements with Visa and has begun marketing Accosa in the US and India.

With Accosa, banks can implement customised payment solutions and add new ones in a short span of time to meet the needs of the marketplace, Mr Setlur said, adding that the company was in different stages of implementation at banks and credit unions in the US.

The company is setting up its hosted processing facility together with Reliance Infocomm India Development Centre, Mr Setlur said. At lower capital and operational expense, Indian banks can use the payment processing solutions launched by the company, he said.

The Californian company recently moved its engineering centre to India.
